Plaster Repair Equals Restoration & Preservation

Scottish Rites Temple, New Bern, NC

Constructed in 1802, New Bern’s historic Scottish Rites Masonic Temple saw enough activity over 205 years that its ceiling and walls were blackened from age and smoke.  Subjected to deterioration and water damage, large portions of the ceiling and walls had collapsed into rubble.  With total recovery impossible in many areas, plaster reconstruction and matching of design and colors made the recovery of this 40 by 60 foot space a solid 12 month project completed by Edward Rokosz in August of 2006.

Ornamental plaster restoration and historic preservation play a large part of Rokosz’s dedication to arts in North Carolina.  At the Tryon Palace and Masonic Temple in New Bern, in historic homes in Edenton and Bath, Rokosz’s talents are called upon to restore and preserve some of North Carolina’s most precious spaces.

Restoring walls in historic structures requires specific considerations, whether the walls are solid or contain decorative elements.
